flextanks vs. barrels

Let Flextank show you how to double capacity and
save up to 80% on your cellaring costs!
Flextank Pallet tanks and the equivalent number of barrels shown in an 1100 sq. ft. cellar space. (30x37x14 ft. ceiling.) In this example each facility holds 360 barrels or their equivalent volume. The pallet tanks store 1 barrel equivalent per 0.88 sq. ft. of stack footprint compared with 1.875 sq. ft. per barrel in a 4 high stack utilizing the full ceiling height available.
More than doubling the capacity of a given storage space results in lower capital costs for building and climate control facilities, lower property taxes and a much higher thermal mass in a full facility. A Flextank cellar does not require humidity control to temper losses due to evaporation as is often required for barrels.
Consider the total cost picture over 10 years assuming:
- An average barrel life of 4 years,
- A mix of American and French oak barrels or alternatives
- Labor savings from no routine topping
- No evaporative losses
- Capital and running costs of the facility halved
Total cellaring cost savings are at least 80% compared with barrels.
